Middlesbrough SC 10th Annual Open Meet 2011

Middlesbrough SC hosted their 10th Annual open meet on Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th of May.  The meet took place in the Neptune Centre swimming pool Middlesbrough.

Hartlepool SC entered 11 swimmers into the three day event and came away with 9 Bronze, 10 Silver and 3 Gold medals along with almost 40 new Personal Best times. Hartlepool’s Head Coach Ian Bullock remarked that the weekend was a great success for all his swimmers.  The squad just keep getting better and better with every competition they enter.  A Just reward for all the hard work they have been pinto training.  

In the Girls 11yrs age group Beth Turner came 5th in the 400m Individual Medley and made a new Personal Best time (PB). In the Boys 11yrs age group Timmy Berry had a top 10 finish in the 100m Backstroke and made a new PB.  He made two top 5 places in the 100m and the 200m Freestyle events making PB’s in both.  The Timster took five Bronze Medals which were in the 200m Backstroke, the 200m Breast Stroke and a PB, the 400m Freestyle and a PB, the 100m and the 200m Butterfly events also making PB’s in both races.  Timmy went on to pick up two Silver Medals and two PB’s in the 100m Breast Stroke and the 200m Individual Medley.  Callum Brass had a top 5 finish in the 200m Breast Stroke.  He picked up two third place Bronze medals in the 100m Breast Stroke and the 100m Freestyle events making PB’s in both. He went on to take five second place Silver medals in the 200m Butterfly, the 200m and the 400m Freestyle events making PB’s in both , the 100m and the 200m Backstroke events Making PB’s in both.  Callum’s highlight of the weekend came when he picked up two Gold Medals in the 100m Butterfly and the 200m Individual Medley again making PB’s in both events.

In the 12yrs girls age group Nicholl Fitzgerald made a top 10 finish in the 200m Individual Medley and made a new Personal Best time.

In the Girls 13yr olds age group Abbie Devonshire had a top 20 finish in the 100m Freestyle, she went on to make two top 10 finishes in the 200m Individual Medley and the 200m Backstroke events, her 100m Backstroke saw her finish in the top 5 and make a new PB.  In the boys 13yr old age group Sam McMorris had two top 15 finishes in the 200m backstroke and the 100m Backstroke making a new PB in the latter event. He made three top 10 finishes in the 100m Freestyle, the 100m and the 200m Butterfly making new PB’s in all three events.  Callan Torka had two top 10 positions in the 200m Freestyle and the 200m Individual Medley with a PB.  He went on to make two top 5 positions in the 100m Butterfly and the 100m Freestyle making

PB’s in both events.  Callan picked up a 3rd placed Bronze medal in the 200m Butterfly along with a new personal Best time.

In the 14yr old Girls age group Laura Maddison had a top 15 place in the 200m Freestyle event and made a new PB.  She went on to make three top 10 positions in the 100m Backstroke, the 200m Individual Medley and the 100m Freestyle making PB.  In the boys 14yr age group Oliver Stoker made three top 10 finishes in the 100m
Backstroke, the 100m and 200m Freestyle events making PB’s in both.  In his 400m Freestyle event Oliver touched out in 5th place making a new PB for his effort.

In the 16yr old Girls age group Sarah Joy made a top 10 finish in the 200m Individual medley, she managed to power her way into three top 5 positions in the 200m Freestyle , the 100m Backstroke and the 200m Backstroke events making a PB in the latter event.  Saz’s high spot came when she picked up a 2nd place Silver Medal in the 100m Freestyle event.

Joseph Laybourn Hartlepool’s 17yr old had a top 5 finish in both the 100m Freestyle and the 200m Individual Medley creating new PB’s in both events.  A 3rd place Bronze Medal was his reward in the 100m Butterfly. He managed three 2nd placed Silver medals in the 100m and 200m Backstroke making PB’s in both events and the 100m Breast Stroke also making a PB.  Joseph’s best two races saw him pick up two Gold Medals and two new personal best times in the 200m Breast Stroke and the 200m Freestyle events.
