Autumn Graded Series 2011

The Hartlepool Swimming Club picked up nine Gold, eight Silver and six Bronze medals at the Autumn Graded Series of Galas. The galas took place over three weekends at three separate venues: Bishop Auckland, Middlesbrough and Stanley.

In the 15yr old Boys age group Hartlepool’s oldest swimmer on the day Oliver Stoker swam extremely well picking up eight medals from his ten events.  He made a top 10 finish in the 50m Freestyle and a top 5 finish in the 50m Butterfly before going on to take a 3rd placed Bronze medal in the 50m Breaststroke, three 2nd placed Silver medals in the 100m Butterfly, the 100m and the 200m Freestyle and then powered his way to four 1st placed Gold Medals in the 100m and the 200m Individual Medley, 50m Backstroke and 200m Freestyle events.

In the Boys 14yrs age group Sam McMorris touched out in 3rd place to pick up a Bronze medal in the 200m Individual Medley.

In the 14yrs Girls age group Lucy Walsh had a top 20 finish in the 50m Butterfly, two top 15 finishes in the 100m Individual Medley and the 100m Freestyle.  She bagged a top 5 position in the 50m Backstroke and then went on to pick up a 3rd placed Bronze medal for her 100m Backstroke event. 

In the 13yrs Girls age group Courteney Syres gained four top 10 finishes in the 100m Individual Medley, the 200m Breaststroke, the 100m and the 200m Freestyle events.  Courteney’s high spot came when she picked up a 1st placed Gold Medal for her 100m Breaststroke race.  Imogen Joy took up five top 10 positions in the 100m and the 200m Individual Medley, the 100m and the 200m Freestyle and also in the 100m Backstroke events.     

In the 12yrs Girls age group Danielle Williams made a top 15 position in the 100m Freestyle.  Nicholl Fitzgerald made a top 5 placing in the 100m Backstroke.  She went on to pick up a 3rd placed Bronze medal in the 200m Backstroke,  three 2nd placed Silver medals in the 100m Breaststroke, the 100m and the 200m Butterfly.  Nicholls highlight of the series came when she picked up three 1st placed finishes in the 100m, the 200m, and the 400m Freestyle events.

In the Girls 11yrs age group Niamh McMorris had two top 20 finishes in the 200m Individual Medley and the 200m Freestyle, a top 15 position in the 100m Freestyle  and  a top 10 placing in the 100m Breaststroke Niamh went on to make a top 5 position in the 200m Breaststroke.  Emily Rafferty finished with a top 15 finish in the 200m Freestyle and then took two 2nd placed Silver medals for her 100m Freestyle and 100m Individual Medley.  

In the 10yrs Girls age group Jessica Williams made a top 10 position in the 100m Individual Medley and went on to pick up a 1st placed Gold Medal in the 200m Backstroke event.  Tilly Skidmore made a top 20 position in the 100m Individual Medley and four top 15 positions in the 50m and the 200m Backstroke, and the 50m and 200m Freestyle.  Sophie Walsh had two top 20 finishes in the 50m Freestyle and the 100m Individual Medley.  Katie Laybourn finished with a top 10 position in the 400m Freestyle and went on to pick up two 3rd placed Bronze medals in the 200m Backstroke and the 200m Butterfly events.
